Our Mission: Elevating Service Animal Safety Standards
Founded by Army Veteran Joshua Allen
Army Veteran, Joshua Allen, and his service dog, Rookie - a.k.a his best bud, are the creators of NooknRook.
Anouk / Nooks was Joshua's previous and first Service Dog and unfortunately passed away in October of 2021 while living in Maui.
While doing Service Dog Training with Dog Training Elite in Salt Lake City, Josh and Rooks attended an event at a fire station where EMT's and Firefighters were talking about handling Service Dogs and the obstacles they face while treating a patient and also handling their dogs.
Through this training it was realized how there are no tools out there to help First Responders triage someone with a Service Animal. They do not know what the dogs tasks are, what they alert for, or what disabilities and medications the handler might have. From there we worked with fire houses and police departments on creating a universally accepted ID card full of information that they requested that was very easy to access when they arrive on a scene.
